Whippets Sparkle at the AWC National Agility Trial

by Lauri Austin

This year’s AWC National agility trial had no identified “winner” or high scoring overall Whippet. But a number of Whippets Q’d and there was no doubt that every Whippet run, Q or not, entertained! All qualifying runs earned the team a coveted National plate.

Every Whippet competitor scored a great agility Welcome bag, with a container of treat sized liver brownies, a 2015 National logo cup cozy, a 2015 National logo pen, a handmade Whippet soap, a fleece tug, and an agility Whippet keyring.

It would be hard to imagine a nicer or more supportive group of Whippet agility competitors. Lots of helping hands, cheering, clapping, commiserating, and most of all laughter. Barbara Bounds,  the judge, had great courses and was extremely helpful. In fact, during the final runs of the day, we learned that collars with rhinestones were not allowed in the ring - even if they were removed for the run. The judge was kind enough not NQ anyone based on their Whippet’s bling, although some sparkled a bit more in the ring than others.

Congratulations to all who Q’d!
